Social Counselling is a service provided by the Psychosocial Counselling Services (PSB) of the Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg. Topics covered by Social Counselling include, for example: funding your studies in addition to BAföG, social security benefits, housing and child benefit, studying with a child, counselling for international students, studying with a disability or chronic illness, social security cover whilst completing your degree, etc. Social Counselling supports students throughout their studies by helping them find their way and provides information to aid decision-making in specific situations. Counselling sessions are free of charge and are subject to confidentiality.
Consultation appointments can be arranged on an individual basis; these are available as face-to-face, telephone or video consultations.

In addition to individual appointments, open consultation hours are available.
You can attend the open consultation hours without an appointment; consultations take place either by telephone or in person.
Please note:
Social Counselling services will be suspended from 23 June 2026 to 3 July 2026; the Social Counselling service’s open consultation hours will also be suspended during this period.
The next open telephone consultation session will take place on Monday 6 July 2026 from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm; telephone consultations are available during this time without prior booking or an appointment.

No appointment is required for the open consultation hours, and if you wish, you can attend anonymously.
