Student Housing for International Applicants (SOK Program)
Got a housing offer through your university’s recommendation?
You're in the right place!
The SOK procedure is for international students who received a guaranteed housing reservation via an official recommendation list from their university / International Office.
Your Benefits
- You’ll get a guaranteed room at the start of the semester – no waiting list.
- A smooth and secure start to your studies in Erlangen or Nuremberg.
Important Information Before You Apply
Special contract with fixed terms:
- Rental period: 1 or 2 semesters (no extension possible)
- No early termination – early move-out only with full payment
- No option to switch rooms or sublet
- Advance payment: up to €1,500 (deposit + first 2 months' rent)
→ Only apply if you can cover this amount
Application Deadlines:
- June 15 → for the winter semester
- December 15 → for the summer semester
Note: Your university must submit your recommendation by this deadline.

Category 1 – Basic & Affordable
Furnished single room in a shared flat (WG) or classic dormitory
→ Shared kitchen & bathroom
Category 2 – More Comfort
Furnished single apartment with private shower, toilet & kitchenette
Category 3 – For Couples & Families
2-person shared flats, double apartments, or family apartments
→ Barrier-free units available upon request

What You Need to Bring
- Bedding, pillow, towels
- Cookware & dishes
- Internet connection is available in all rooms
On-Site Amenities
- Laundry rooms, study & recreation areas
- Student tutors to help you settle in
- Some houses offer sports rooms, bike rentals, solar energy & rainwater systems
Car Parking?
Some dorms offer parking spaces for a fee. Check availability on our website.
Arrival & Move-In Info
- Move-in only Monday–Friday during the day
❌ No evening, weekend, or holiday move-ins!
- You can move in after:
- Rent + deposit are paid
- You receive confirmation + caretaker contact info
- You’ve scheduled a move-in appointment
→ You'll get an email with all the details once your payment is processed.
