Accommodation for international exchange students
Certain universities have a limited contingent of rooms, known as SOK, in our halls of residence reserved for international exchange students. In exceptional cases, this also applies to Master’s students, but not at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Important Information Before You Apply
Your university will provide you with a special application link. Please apply only through this link.
Special contract with fixed terms
- Rental period: 1 or 2 semesters, no extension possible
- No early termination – early move-out is only possible with full payment
- No option to switch rooms or sublet
- Advance payment: up to €1,500, including deposit and the first 2 months’ rent
Please apply only if you can cover the required advance payment.
Application Deadlines
June 15 for the winter semester
December 15 for the summer semester
Important: Your university must submit your recommendation by this deadline.
Our Housing Categories
Category 1
Basic & Affordable
Furnished single room in a shared flat, also called WG, or in a classic dormitory.
Shared kitchen and bathroom.
Category 2
More Comfort
Furnished single apartment with private shower, toilet and kitchenette.
Category 3
For Couples & Families
2-person shared flats, double apartments or family apartments.
Barrier-free units are available upon request.

Car Parking
Some dorms offer parking spaces for a fee. Please check availability on our website.
Arrival & Move-In Info
Move-in is only possible Monday to Friday during the day.
No evening, weekend or holiday move-ins are possible.
You can move in after:
- Rent and deposit are paid
- You receive confirmation and caretaker contact information
- You have scheduled a move-in appointment
You will receive an email with all details once your payment has been processed.
